My student has been enrolled in Reading Partners. What does this mean?
- At North Charleston Elementary, your student will work with a volunteer tutor two times a week to work on reading skills. They will most likely be pulled during their special area time. The Site Coordinator for Reading Partners will always be present to make sure that the tutors are supported and that you child is getting as much out of their tutoring sessions as possible.
What are the book reports my child keeps bringing home?
- Each week your child will get a book to take home that they can keep to build their at home libraries. The book reports that your child brings home allows them to work on the skills they are learning in Reading Partners while they read and enjoy their new books.
Does my child have to bring back the books they bring home?
- No, the books are theirs to keep!
Does Reading Partners serve all students?
- Reading Partners typically serves K-5th grade students who are reading 6 months to 2.5 years behind grade level, do not have an IEP, and speak conversational English. Reading Partners collaborates with teachers and the Literacy team to target students who would benefit from our program the most!
