At R.B. Stall High School we believe that success in school is dependent upon punctual, regular attendance. Tardiness has a direct correlation to poor student performance and is detrimental to the learning environment.
The student's responsibility is to consistently improve personal success in utilizing hallway time and planning the quickest route, while still moving safely within the hallways. Teachers will encourage students, and parents will support students, but it is essentially the student's responsibility to BE ON TIME!
The teacher's responsibility is to encourage students to discover the best routine for the most efficient use of passing time. Teachers will stand at their classroom doors to supervise students during passing time and to encourage students to be punctual to class.
The parent's responsibility is to discuss this policy with their child - reinforcing the student's ability to meet this responsibility of learning promptness - while supporting the necessary consequences in order to prevent chronic tardiness.
CONSEQUENCES FOR TARDIES*
5-6: After School Detention (assigned Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm)
7: Conditional Suspension (guardian must bring student to school after 8 am the school day following the tardy)
8: In School Suspension (student will complete assignments and make-up work from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
9-10: Out of School Suspension for one (1) day (guardian must bring student in for a readmit conference with an administrator the morning following the day of OSS)
11+: Out of School Suspension for two (2) days (guardian must bring student in for a readmit conference with an administrator the morning following the last day of OSS)
All students who receive a tardy of five (5) and above receive an immediate pink slip with details of their consequence. Students have five (5) minutes from the time they receive their tardy to be back in the classroom. Tardies are reset to 0 at the end of each 9 week term.
Late Bus Passes
If a student is tardy because of a late bus, an administrator will issue a bus pass. This pass is active for 10 minutes to give the student the opportunity to eat a quick breakfast, obtain an ID, and walk to class.
Students are expected to wear their ID at all times. Students are not allowed to enter the classroom without an ID. The tardy booth is open everyday from 8:00 am to 8:50 am.* Students should obtain a permanent ID or a temporary ID before 8:25 am in order to be on time to class. If a student arrives to the tardy booth at anytime after 8:25 am, he or she will receive a tardy, including if the student is sent out of class at any point in the school day for not having an ID. Students who have a late bus pass and are within the 10 minute window can receive an ID badge without a tardy.
*Any student arriving after the tardy booth closes at 8:50 am should report to the attendance office.
