The SC Department of Education and the Education Oversight Committee released 2019 School and District Report Cards, state test scores, and End Of Course Results Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
Charleston County School District (CCSD) saw significant improvement in the overall rating of schools. The number of CCSD Excellent-rated schools increased by four from last year; Excellent/Good-rated schools increased by seven from last year; CCSD Average and Above schools increased by nine from last year; and CCSD Unsatisfactory schools dropped from 14 last year to only three this year.Noteworthy accomplishments from the 2019 report card ratings include:
- Academic Magnet High School is the highest-rated high school in the State (97 points out of 100).
- Buist Academy grades 6-8 is the highest-rated middle school in the State (85 points out of 100).
- Moultrie Middle School is the highest-rated non-magnet middle school in the State (83 points out of 100).
- All 14 CCSD schools that received Unsatisfactory ratings last year move up at least one rating level on the 2019 report cards.
Also, 41-percent of CCSD schools improved their Overall rating and 60-percent of CCSD schools improved their Overall rating points (on a 100-point scale) from last year.
None of the 11 schools that were Rated Unsatisfactory last year are Unsatisfactory this year. All moved up at least one rating level. In addition, more than half of CCSD middle schools have an Excellent or Good rating.
