YES. All new employees must attend NHO.
Who schedules me for NHO?
Charleston County School District’s Office of Human Resources schedules new hires for orientation. Once you have been cleared for hire, a technician from the Office of HR will contact you via phone and/or via e-mail to schedule a date for you to attend NHO.
How will I know if I’m scheduled for NHO?
You will receive verbal or written communication from the Office of Human Resources.
Where is NHO held?
NHO will be held in the Board Room at the Calhoun Street Administrative Building. 75 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

What do I need to Bring?
All required documentation/forms must be completed on-line through the AppliTrak System prior to attending NHO.
Your are required to bring with you the following:
- Social Security Card (SSC). This is an essential part of finalizing your on-boarding. We cannot complete your administrative processing during the day without it. Please be sure to BRING IT with you ensuring your card bears your exact legal name and signature. This will be used to establish your identity in our payroll system. Please let your scheduler know if you are unable to provide the SSC.
- Picture Identification. Be sure to bring with you picture identification. A driver's license or identification issued by the DMV, or a passport will be just fine. For a list of other Acceptable Documents, see page 9 of the I-9 form.
NOTE: Federal law requires that you present original and current documents. Photocopies are not acceptable.
Should I attend if I’m missing documentation (i.e. SS Card, identification)?
No. We cannot complete your on-boarding without these documents.
What is the acceptable length of time for documentation for negative TB results?
A current negative Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) is required by the Charleston County School District for all new employees. Documented negative results, up to (1) year, will be accepted. However, some program areas may require testing more frequently. Because negative TB results are a condition of your employment, You must have received your results prior to your orientation date and uploaded your results into the Applitrack system. Failure to do so will result in reschedulling your orientation date.
Does the District offer Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST)?
No. You will need to visit your personal physician or a Emergent Care Facility like Doctors Care, Health First, or MedCare. You can also visit CVS's Minute Clinic for the TST. Care Centers offering the vaccine, will often provide a discount if you are receiving it for employment purposes. CCSD does not reimburse the cost of the test.
Who should I contact if I don’t have a Letter of Employment or Letter of Agreement?
Employment Letters are generally issued to new employees via your private e-mail. This would be the e-mail address provided by you on your AppliTrac application. If you have not received a letter, via e-mail, contact your hiring manager first, then contact the Human Resources Support Center (M-F, 8-5) by phone at 843-937-6380 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do I report to my school/office when the session is over?
Yes. If your orientation date is also your start date, you should report to your work location once NHO is adjourned. However, If you have NOT presented negative TST results, you are not to report to ANY CCSD school or office until these results are on file with CCSD's Office of Human Resources.
Will my Manager/Supervisor be at NHO?
No. Your hiring manager is not required to attend. However, offices with new team members have been known to stop by to greet new hires.
Will food be served at NHO?
Yes. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. Lunch will not be provided.
