Pre-K | Child Development
CCSD offers full-day Child Development (CD)/Pre-Kindergarten programs for students who will be four years old by September 1 of the year of enrollment.
Full-day Child Development Programs are funded through EIA and GOF funds. They allow the district to provide full-day instruction for eligible students. CCSD’s CD programs are designed to develop skills necessary for success in Kindergarten. The curriculum is comprehensive with a primary focus on language and literacy, numeracy and social-emotional development. The needs of bilingual, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and preschool children with exceptional needs are met through our inclusive program.
Applying for CD/Pre-Kindergarten Programs
CCSD accepts applications for its Child Development/Pre-Kindergarten Programs in the spring for the following academic year. Parents should apply at the district elementary school where their children are zoned to attend. Spaces are limited; parents are encouraged to apply early!
Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment in a Child Development Program. Selection priority is given to children who demonstrate an academic or developmental need. Children may be selected for a screening appointment based on a completed application. Families will be notified by the school regarding screening appointments. Enrollment status will be communicated to parents from the schools.
Call your zoned school to inquire about additional documents that will be needed when applying for the CD program.
The application process for the 2019-2020 Academic Year opened on March 1, 2019.
