This is my fourth year at Wando High School, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to continue teaching at this remarkable school. I am extremely passionate about fostering creativity, collaboration, and connections within my classroom in order to empower my students to become lifelong learners. I am a Minnesota native who is not a fan of cold weather and snow, so I decided to relocate to Charleston in search of a warmer climate. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and my Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing on the beach, exploring this beautiful city, reading good books, staying active, and spending time with my family and friends.  I am looking forward to a great school year! Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.

I’m a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Duquesne University with a Masters in Secondary English Education. I have continued my graduate studies towards, eventually working toward a PhD at the College of Charleston, the Citadel, the University of the Pacific, and the University of North Carolina. I have been an English instructor for over 20 years in the Charleston area, in high schools and colleges, public and private. I travel internationally and believe next to reading, traveling is the single most important thing a person can do to educate themselves. While I have taught all levels of English, 5th grade through college, I don’t teach a subject I teach people, most often children, and I love what I do. In addition to educating, I enjoy hiking, biking, and doing yoga on the beach.
I use Google Classroom to share announcements, daily lessons, resources, classwork and homework.
