CCSD Board of Trustees
The Charleston County School Board is comprised of nine local citizens, and current members were elected for a 4-year term. Elections are held in November of even-numbered years.
The Charleston County School District Board of Trustees typically meets on the second and fourth Monday each month. Any exceptions to this meeting schedule will be publicly posted.
Citizens who wish to address the Board may do so by signing in prior to the start of the Board meeting. Speakers are generally allotted 2 minutes to address the Board.

Board of Trustees members are elected countywide in non-partisan elections, and they currently represent constituent districts as follows: two members from District 1-2 (East of the Cooper), three members from Districts 3,9, 10, and 23 (West of the Ashley), three members from District 4 (North Charleston), and one member from District 20 (downtown Charleston).
In November 2020, five seats will be filled for two-year terms. This will be a transition to single-member districts which will begin with the November 2022 election. Beginning in November 2022, all nine seats will be elected from non-partisan single-member districts with election terms a combination of four-year and two-year terms. By November 2024, all seats will have four-year terms.
Board members do not receive a salary; however, they do receive a per diem of $25 per scheduled board meeting.
