Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,
It is an honor to be a member of the District 20 Community. During our foundational years at Simmons-Pinckney, I have had many interactions with scholars, parents, and faculty. From these conversations, it is clear there is a collegial partnership between all stakeholders to provide the best academic experience for our scholars. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with the faculty to provide a world-class educational experience for every scholar.
As a product of the Charleston County School District (CCSD), my life was deeply enhanced by my classroom teachers. Not only did they provide me a sound foundation, but they inspired me to realize that an education is more than just interacting with letters and numbers. My pathway through life has taken many turns. I've served in the U.S. Army and as a law enforcement officer. My education consists of a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Capella University (K-12) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education with an emphasis on Choral Music and Secondary Education from Charleston Southern University.
As the principal of Simmons-Pinckney Middle School, I would like to share my goals for our expanding and growing school. My main goal is to ensure that every scholar is provided a high quality of education in a safe, supportive, disruptive-free learning environment. Working together as a team with our faculty, staff, community leaders, and parents, I am committed to helping each scholar achieve their very best. Every scholar is valued and worthy of our best effort. At Simmons-Pinckney, we understand the ultimate goal is to help scholars prepare for the next level. We expect every scholar will succeed in the 21st Century regardless of their career path or college choice.
It is my wish that we join together to realize our hopes for changing the culture of our schools and communities through a multi-faceted approach that includes: turning our at-risk scholars into promising adults; implementing a STEAM Curriculum, personalized learning, and providing a rigorous curriculum for all.
Our greatest initiative is to provide every scholar a personalized learning experience, focused on differentiated learning opportunities and problem based projects. Scholars will be inspired and challenged with engaging, whole student experiences. They will also have the opportunity to enroll in pre-advance placement courses (AP), prepare for a college path with AVID, and participate in our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum.
I look forward to very positive and productive school years together! I extend a special, yearlong invitation to our parents and community members to join us at school activities and events. I want and value your involvement and support in your child’s education! Your involvement will be the key to the success of our young scholars during their middle school years.
