Principal of Angel Oak earns honor from Palmetto State Arts Education
Angel Oak Elementary School’s principal, Judith Condon, made a decision to invest in the arts when she arrived at the school in 2017. That investment led to a range of opportunities for the students, and eventually, recognition for the school at the state level. Condon is the 2021 Palmetto State Arts Education (PSAE) Arts Administrator of the Year Award

Charleston County School District (CCSD) honored four first-year teachers Thursday, August 26, 2021, by surprising them with Rookie Teacher of the Year awards.

St. John's student-athlete captures two individual state titles
Brett Jones, an eighth-grader on St. John's High School's track and field team, won two individual state titles at the South Carolina High School A state meet on Saturday at Lower Richland High School.

Lakevia Mills named CCSD 2020 Teacher of the Year
St. John’s High School science teacher, Lakevia Mills, is Charleston County School District’s 2020 Teacher of the Year (TOY). She’s honored to have been chosen and hopes to use the opportunity as Teacher of the Year to express the importance of creating equitable learning environments across the entire district.

Developing dancers at Mount Zion
Students who live in rural parts of Charleston County often don’t have the same opportunities as students who live in the suburbs. For example, dance studios are not plentiful on John’s Island. Programs that do exist in adjacent communities are often financially out of reach for families and inconvenient to access.
