    Good Morning Whitesides Families,

This is Principal Cindy Perez, with information related to the recent message shared by Governor McMaster that all South Carolina schools will be closed from now through April 30th. It is our priority to still provide educational and social-emotional support to our Wildcats during this time.

Important information below as it relates to the services we will be providing during this extended school closing:

Student Work -  Each grade level, to include special area and special education, will provide students with work assignments to complete while out of school.  This work may be a combination of paper/pencil and activities that can be accessed electronically.  Teachers have worked hard to provide students with meaningful activities that support learning and exploration.  Teachers will be communicating with parents through email with specific instructions related to assignments and how to communicate with your child’s teacher during this time.  Please note that all teachers will also be available to students and parents for two hours per day (the hours vary per grade level).  Assignments will be graded by teachers.

Meals- Meals will be served at designated schools during the entire time schools are closed beginning Monday, March 16. These schools will be posted on the CCSD website.  Laing Middle School is the designated school for the Mt. Pleasant area, and pick-up times are 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Any student up through age 18 may receive meals from the designated sites.

Communication- The school will be communicating with families 1-2 times weekly during our time out of school, through emails and/or phone calls.  If you have class or academic assignment questions, you will communicate with your child's teacher through daily office hours (as established by each teacher).

We know that this situation is emerging and changing very quickly.  We appreciate your support, understanding and flexibility during this unusual time.  All school activities/field trips through April 30h have been canceled or postponed.  No district decisions have been made related to spring break.  Please know that we will address decisions related to future events as they are made at the state and/or district level.  If you have any further questions, please reach me via email.  Thank you for allowing us to educate your child, and we look forward to our students returning in a few weeks. Stay healthy and have a great day!
