Morgan Cook, a co-editor of Wando High School’s award-winning newspaper Tribal Tribune is the 2024 South Carolina Scholastic Journalist of the Year by the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association (SCSPA).

About Wando High School

Wando High School with an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students is located on a 100 acre campus in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Wando High School is a large, public non-magnet high school serving a diverse population of students in grades 9–12 with a comprehensive academic program offering more than 200 courses. Wando has maintained a reputation of academic excellence while providing rigorous standards in all areas for college and career readiness.
More than 25% of our students excel in the visual and performing arts. The Athletic Department has been the recipient of the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association Carlisle Cup for the last seven out of eight years for Class AAAAA. This first place award is based on the rankings of the overall athletic program of the Class AAAAA schools. Wando competes in 21 sports with 37 teams.
Throughout the year, our students raise funds, collect resources, and serve alongside community members at various charities and events in support of those in need. Our students are encouraged to be involved in Wando life and “Walk the Warrior Way” with integrity, compassion, and personal responsibility.
