School News and Announcements
Greetings from the Principal
Dear Beckham Families,
Recently a colleague described our current situation as living in a future DBQ. Our students know what this is; but for those who have been out of school for a while a DBQ is a document or data based question that has our students analyze evidence and work to understand from a scholarly level why certain events happened and what the implications were in a historical context and what the future implications might be.
This comment reminded me that while we are adjusting to a new normal for the foreseeable future and are trying to figure out the logistics of how to do school from home, the more important question to ask is how will this affect our society in the long run? How are we equipping our children and ourselves to adapt to our new world and be sure that we weather this storm?
At the core of my questioning though, is how are we staying connected and supporting each other? All the philosophical questions flood my mind but what I really want to know is, “How are you doing?” How are our students, staff, families and communities handling this change and what can we do to help?
Our social media feeds are filled with ideas and challenges but I think all we really need is good old fashioned checking in on our neighbors. Thanking the cashier at Publix for being there to check out my bread and milk and thanking our health care providers for literally putting their lives on the line. Thanking our teachers for zooming, emailing, googling, and reminding us while doing the same with their own children at home. We are all one family and we will not only get through this, we will get through it together.
Please share how you are supporting each other and let us know how we can support you and your family. We have so many exciting ideas for our Bengal family and will be continuing to roll out announcements and have a little fun along the way.
August 2020 will be here before we know it and we will be there together and stronger as a Beckham Family and a Bengal Nation!
Stay safe, Bengals!
