What is the PowerSchool Parent Portal?
PowerSchool Parent Portal is a feature of the PowerSchool student information system that provides parent/guardians immediate access to grades, assignments and attendance records in an effort to facilitate and improve communication between home and school.
Do parents need to have a PowerSchool account?
Parents of a current K - 12 student will need to have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account. It will be the only way to access online registration for returning students. Online registration applies to all students regardless of the learning option chosen, school-based instruction or CCSD Virtual Option (LowCountry Virtual).
When do I need to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account?
As soon as possible, you will need to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account in order to provide feedback to the district and to complete the annual returning student registration form.
Do I need a different account for each of my children?
No, you create one parent account and add all children to that single account. When you go through the process of adding a child, you will need that student’s one-time-use-Access ID. Please contact your child’s school to get this information. See the tab “Add a Child to Your Existing Account.”
How long does it take to create a PowerSchool parent account?
This process can be completed in under five minutes. Please be sure to store the username and password you created in a secure location for future reference.

What if the email address I entered is already in use?
- If you have an account and forgot your login information, select Forgot your username or password?
- If you cannot access the recovery email associated with your PowerSchool parent account, contact your student’s school.
How do I change my Email Address?
If you know the Username and Password that you created, log into the PowerSchool Portal. In the menu at the top, click on the tab Account Preferences. In the section for your Email, click in the box where your current email address is located. Remove the old email and type in a new email address. Click Save when finished.
Why am I receiving the error message: An account with that User Name already exists?
When creating a Parent/Guardian account for the PowerSchool Portal, the User Name has to be unique in the CCSD PowerSchool system. Multiple persons cannot create an account with the same User Name.
Why am I receiving the error message: Student has not been added to your account. Valid student information must be entered.
You have entered an incorrect Access ID or Access Password. Verify that you're using the proper Access ID and Access Password. Keep in mind that the Access information for Parents is different than the Portal User Name/Password utilized by students. Verify that you're using the proper alphanumeric characters in your Access ID and Access Password. As an example, check that the character is a number one versus an uppercase letter I, and/or uppercase letter O versus a number zero. All credentials are case sensitive, such as the Access ID, Access Password, as well as the Username and Password.
How do I add another student to my account?
If you have already created a unique Username and Password for the Portal, log into the Portal. In the menu at the top, click on the tab Account Preferences. On the left side of the screen, click on the tab Students. In the list of your students, click on the button Add. Enter in the following information in the Add Student form and click submit when finished.
- Student Name: name of student
- Access ID: Parent/Guardian Access ID
- Access Password: Parent/Guardian Password
- Relationship: Select your relationship to the student from the drop down menu.
How do I retrieve my username?
If you have already created your own Username and Password to access the Portal, in the login section, click on the link Having trouble logging in?. Click on the tab Forgot Username. Type in the email address you used to create your Portal account and press Enter. You will receive an email from PowerSchool with your Username and a link to the Portal. Click on the link and fill out your User Name and Password to access PowerSchool.
How do I change my username?
If you know the Username and Password that you created, log into the PowerSchool Portal. In the menu at the top, click on the tab Account Preferences. In the section for your Username, click on the small pencil icon next to your current User Name. In the space provided type in your desired User Name. Click Save when finished.
How long does my password need to be?
Your password must be 8 or more characters, contain at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter, contain at least one letter and one number, and contain at least one special character. A character is a number, letter, or symbol.
How do I reset my Password?
If you have already created your own Username and Password to access the Portal, in the Login section, click on the link Having trouble logging in?. Enter your User Name and Email Address (use the same user name and email from when you created an account) and click Enter. You will receive an email from PowerSchool with a link to reset your Password. Click on the link to fill out a form to set a new Password to access PowerSchool. The link to reset your password is valid for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes you will need to restart the password reset process.
How do I change my Password?
If you know the Username and Password that you created, log into the PowerSchool Portal. In the menu at the top, click on the tab Account Preferences. In the section for your Current Password, click on the small pencil icon next to the row of asterisks. In the spaces provided type in the Current Password and a New Password. Enter in the same new Password in the Confirm Password box. Click Save when finished.
My husband/wife and I are separated/divorced; can we get another parent username and password for our child’s account?
Yes, however, you will use a shared Access ID and Access Password to create your own individual Username and Password.
My child will transfer to another CCSD school next year. Is my child considered a returning student?
Yes, because the student is returning to our school district.
Do I need a new username and password each year if my child is returning?
No, all login information will remain active as long as your child is a student within the district.
My friend is moving to CCSD, so her child will be a new student. Will she need to create an account?
Yes, after completing the new student online registration form, later in the school year, the parent will be given the information needed to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

The PowerSchool Mobile App gives parents and students instant access to information they need to stay up-to-date on student grades, performance and attendance.

How can I find my District Code?
The District Code can be found by signing in to your school’s web portal. When you sign in, the District Code should be visible in the black box located in the lower-hand corner. You can also use the app to determine the District Code.
To use app to determine the District Code:
- Tap “Where is my district code?” just below the District Code entry boxes.
- Tap Search for Your District at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter the school’s URL into the third box
- Tap submit.

How do I view the assignments for a class?
Log into the Portal. On the Grades and Attendance tab, click on the blue link for specific marking period/quarter to view more detail for that class. On the screen Class Score Detail, a listing of assignments will be listed at the bottom of the page.
How do I view the comments for a reporting term grade?
Log into the Portal. On the Grades and Attendance tab, click on the blue link for specific marking period/quarter to view more detail for that class. On the screen Class Score Detail, the Teacher Comments are listed at the top of the page.
How do I switch between multiple students?
Log into the Portal. If you have already added multiple students to your account, use the buttons located in the top left portion of the Portal to switch between students.
