  • Developing dancers at Mount Zion

    Students who live in rural parts of Charleston County often don’t have the same opportunities as students who live in the suburbs. For example, dance studios are not plentiful on John’s Island. Programs that do exist in adjacent communities are often financially out of reach for families and inconvenient to access.

  • West Ashley High partners with Schwan’s Chef Collective 

    From October 8–11, the Schwan’s Company partnered with West Ashley High School (WAHS) for the fourth Schwan’s Chef Collective K-12 Kitchen Collaborative. The program encourages more students to eat in school cafeterias. Schwan’s has previously worked with schools in Wayzata, MN, Albuquerque, NM, and Houston, TX. This is the first time they collaborated with a school on the East Coast.

  • District boasts 30 first-year teachers from CofC

    The College of Charleston (CofC) has long been a local producer of educators for Charleston County School District (CCSD). This year alone, 30 CofC graduates are first-year teachers in CCSD. CofC alumni are in elementary, middle, and high schools across the district and are teaching across all of CCSD’s geographic regions. The reciprocal partnership between the college and the district is crucial to help teachers stay connected to emerging trends.

    Nine entities have submitted responses to Charleston County School District as potential “Partnership School” operators or partners.

  • Trooper Bob

    Charleston County School District (CCSD) and ABC News Channel 4 have partnered for the 2019-2020 school year to promote bus, crosswalk and pedestrian safety for students on their route to school. The Troop Bob Safety Squad is designed to teach students the best safety practices as they travel to and from school each day. Trooper Bob will visit several CCSD elementary schools each week to deliver his Safety Squad Talk and award the school with a Trooper Bob safety Squad Certification of Completion.

  • Unsung Educator of the Week

    The 'Unsung Educator of the Week' is a weekly honor given to a CCSD educator. The winner is nominated by a peer because of their determination to go above and beyond for our students. The winner for the week is published each Friday in the CCSD All Staff newsletter.

  • Board Docs

    All CCSD Board of Trustees Meeting agendas and minutes can be found on CCSD's BoardDocs website. BoardDocs increase the amount of time board members have to review agendas, enabling them to better prepare for meetings. The August meeting will be held on August 26.
