CCSD & Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry
Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry, celebrated November 14-20, is a week-long annual event recognizing philanthropic contributions in the Lowcountry. Philanthropy Week aims to highlight the importance of giving, in all its forms, to our community’s quality of life.
Each year, Charleston County School District (CCSD) students benefit from local donations of hundreds of thousands of dollars and volunteer hours. Did you know that in the 2010-2011 school year, CCSD had approximately 6,200 volunteers working across the district- all committed to the district's students and schools? CCSD offers numerous opportunities for community members, businesses, faith-based partners, and other organizations to become involved.
Research shows that community involvement in schools helps all children succeed in elementary, middle, and high schools in rural, suburban, and urban areas. The school-family-community partnership model indicates that the quality of all of these connections influences children’s learning.
During the 2011 Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry, CCSD recognizes the significant contributions that donors and volunteers have made to enrich the lives of students and their families.
