About Us

The grants officer provides technical support to build capacity among the nearly 6,500 CCSD staff to write grants.

CCSD applies for approximately 1,000 grants each year. There are hundreds of successful grant writers in CCSD schools and departments.

Grant Writing/Technical Assistance

Grants Money TreeThe CCSD grants officer works with district staff to produce well-written and complete grant applications. Technical assistance is provided to schools and departments to find appropriate sources for funding; communicating with funders to improve chances of getting funded; reviewing, editing and submitting proposals; compiling necessary demographic and descriptive data; obtaining authorized signatures; help in budget creation with the Office of Budgeting and; development of evaluation plans in conjunction with the Office of Assessment & Evaluation.

The monthly Grants Alert is comprised of well-researched small grant opportunities for which CCSD teachers and schools are eligible to apply. Generally, grant opportunities listed are for programs that benefit the classroom, including but not limited to: teacher professional development, STEM-related programs including school gardens, art programs, and field trips. Whichever grant opportunity you are applying for, reach out to CCSD’s grants officer for advice, editorial and budget support, and other technical assistance.

Professional Development

Workshops are offered on a quarterly basis for school-based and central office staff with little or no experience in grant writing. Workshops for this academic year include:

Collaboration on Partners’ Grant Applications

The grants officer is your communication link within the district and among partners when working on a collaborative grant opportunity. Communication is necessary to inform the superintendent and all other appropriate district leaders about grant applications and their implications for the District and to coordinate appropriate channels of approvals. Communication and collaboration increase possibilities for partnerships and guard against unnecessary duplication of programs.
