The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control requires specific vaccinations for students based on their age. It is very important to check with your doctor and make an appointment for your child to receive any required vaccinations. Proof of immunization must be provided to your school, and forgetting to schedule vaccinations may prevent your student from returning to school on time at the beginning of the year!
Tdap Requirements 2016-2017 School Year
SC Law requires all 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade students to have a dose of Tdap vaccine. The Tdap vaccine, which protects students from tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (also known as whooping cough) is a NEW requirement.
Rising 7th graders will not be able to receive class schedule information during registration without proof of a Tdap vaccination. Non-compliant students will not be able to begin 7th grade in August until proof of a Tdap vaccination is provided.
This is State Law!
If you do not show proof of vaccine before the 2016-2017 school year begins, your child will not be allowed to attend school. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's school or school nurse.
Please share this information with your friends, family and neighbors! For more information about immunization requirements, visit SC's DHEC Vaccinations page or call your child’s doctor.
