- Charleston Achieving Excellence: Vision 2016 - CCSD is currently preparing for the next stage of its strategic
plan—Charleston Achieving Excellence: Vision 2016. This next
phase will strengthen the district’s emphasis on literacy improvement and
teacher effectiveness and create bold annual performance targets for all
students.
- School
Choice - The research is clear. School districts across the country offering choices have
greater parent involvement, more engaged learners, and a higher quality of
education. In Charleston County, each school-aged child is assigned to a
neighborhood school based on grade level and home address. In addition, CCSD
also offers other dynamic choices, including specialized programs, magnets, and
charter schools.
- Literacy-Based Learning- Coming Soon!
- Employee Wellness - CCSD has joined local health and community partners to officially launch a district-wide program —the Employee Wellness Initiative—designed to promote the health and well-being of employees.
- Sustainable
Schools - CCSD is committed to fostering environmental education and
sustainability across the district in a manner that is cost-effective and
sustainable. With this commitment in mind, the district has launched the
Sustainable Schools Initiative. The three-tiered plan focuses on 1) Sustainable,
Healthy Schools; 2) Sustainable Construction; and 3) Sustainable Curriculum
