Key Initiatives
School Choice - A 21st Century Portfolio of Options for every family and every student
Employee Wellness - CCSD has joined local health and community partners to officially launch a district-wide program —the Employee Wellness Initiative—designed to promote the health and well-being of employees.
Sustainable Schools - CCSD is committed to fostering environmental education and sustainability across the district in a manner that is cost-effective and sustainable. With this commitment in mind, the district has launched the Sustainable Schools Initiative. The three-tiered plan focuses on 1) Sustainable, Healthy Schools; 2) Sustainable Construction; and 3) Sustainable Curriculum
Teacher Forum - The Forum Leadership Team is comprised of CCSD’s current Teacher of the Year five finalists and winner and last year’s group. These teachers represent different backgrounds, teaching styles, and areas of expertise. All of them, however, are interested in connecting with other teachers— existing CCSD teachers and prospective teachers— as well as staff and parents, community members and business leaders. Please contact them if you want to “talk” teaching, have any questions about how they teach effectively, or just want to connect with someone who is achieving “Victory in the Classroom!”
Charleston Literacy Roundtable: In recognition of the profound impact of illiteracy in our community, the Charleston Literacy Roundtable was formed as a collaborative effort to focus attention on the critical importance of high levels of literacy across the community and facilitating the eradication of illiteracy.
Charleston Arts Roundtable: The Charleston Arts Roundtable was formed to meet the divergent needs of the local arts community. It brings together leaders and organizations to address how to better incorporate the arts into CCSD schools and build a better informed audience, workforce, and educated public.
