From the Superintendent's Desk - July 26, 2012
The “Student Achievement Team,” a group of district leaders, met this week to strategize on how to better support our principals, teachers, and students. There were a lot of great ideas discussed, and we all left the meeting with a sense of urgency, as well as optimism about the 2012 – 2013 school year.
As part of our continued focus on better supporting principals, teachers, and students – we will hold our countywide administrators meeting next Thursday. Our plan is to take the ideas we discussed at the Student Achievement Team meeting this week, and translate them into action at the county-wide administrators meeting next week. This will help set the tone for the upcoming school year, which is just over three weeks away.
We hope you are pleased with this year’s budget decisions. I am happy that the board supported my recommendation for a “step” adjustment and COLA. Originally, we hoped to have the pay adjustment for non-teachers included in the August 3rd paycheck; unfortunately, that date is now moved back to August 31, 2012. You will receive a retroactive pay check on September 7, 2012. Please note, the FAQ has been updated and contains new information.
With the first day of school just around the corner, we want to ensure that our students, parents, teachers, and principals are prepared and ready for success. Please make sure to visit our back-to-school page for important information on registration, transportation, school lunches, and more. As part of this effort, don’t forget the Hand’s of Christ uniform distribution, which starts July 30, Hootie’s Homegrown Roundup'on August 18, and the First Day Festival on August 19. All three of these efforts provide tremendous resources and services to our families – leading up to the first day of school, August 22.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
