Saturday school is also offered many times throughout the school year from 8 until 12. All remediation and tutorial programs are offered free of charge to all MMA cadets.

BUILDING PROGRAM STATUS: New School

EXTRACURRICULAR OFFERINGS: Students at the Military Magnet Academy have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular sports at the varsity, junior varsity, or recreational levels. These sports include but are not limited to Golf, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Cheerleading, Fishing, Track, and Volleyball. Students may also participate on the school's academic Quest team, rifle team, and color guard. The MMA Eagle band is one of the largest student groups on the campus. The band consists of almost twenty percent of the cadet population. Formation band has won awards in numerous parades around the Charleston Area. The band has also been featured on local television. The students that are in the program also excel in academics and athletics.

SPECIAL INCENTIVES: Cadets at the MMA have many opportunities to participate and become involved in their education. Student leadership is encouraged and rewarded at various parades throughout the school year. Every potential cadet must attend summer or winter camp where they learn military procedures and participate in physical training. Cadets can also participate in various activities such as the annual ski trip, barrier island retreat, and more.

FACULTY INFORMATION: The MMA faculty is comprised of highly qualified personnel dedicated to the needs of every cadet. Each middle school grade level is assigned tactical officers to serve as leadership teachers and mentors. At the high school level JROTC personnel and student leadership works together to further polish the leadership skills necessary for lifelong success.

UNIQUE ASSETS: One purpose of the MMA is to build leadership characteristics in the lives of students. Every cadet is an asset. We believe that every student can and will be successful. Failure is not an option. We are not a discipline school, but instead we are a school that builds discipline.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: The MMA has established several business partnerships that work for the benefit of the school. One of the most active partnerships is the one established with the Mead-Westvaco Corporation. Over the last several years Mead-Westvaco has provided one-on-one after school tutors, financial support for the school's homework center, and has assisted the school in many other activities for the benefit of the cadet body. The MMA also works with the Take One Make One Program of the SC Department of Natural Resources. Through the TOMO program students have the opportunity to explore hunting, fishing, orienteering, shrimping, and more. The MMA also participates in a variety of community parades. The MMA Color Guard has presented the Colors at many different events across the state in the past several years.
