SENDS STUDENTS TO: Approximately 70 percent of the students are expected to continue their educations at two or four year colleges. The military and work force are also options for additional education.
OUTSTANDING FEATURES/PROGRAMS: Garrett offers 14 advanced courses in the departments of English, mathematics, science and social studies.
GAT takes pride in its three career technical clusters: Construction, Manufacturing & Transportation and Services. There is also a 9th grade cluster to focus on career planning. These clusters provide 19 different three year majors from which students may choose. Choices are: Pre-engineering, drafting, cosmetology, culinary arts, hospitality and tourism, masonry, electricity, electronics, networking, auto body collision, auto mechanics, public services, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, welding, metal fabrication, graphic communications, health science services and early childhood education.

EXTRACURRICULAR OFFERINGS: Among the 32 clubs and service activities at Garrett Academy are a student newspaper, student yearbook and a school-wide recycling program. GAT also has active DECA, FCCLA, HOSA, ROTC, SKILLSUSA, Student Council and other organizations to teach leadership and community service skills.
The school has an active and successful athletic program. GAT fields teams in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The faculty and administration encourage all students to participate in sports and activities. High school does not just consist of going to classes, homework and working a job. Students are involved and do make a difference at Garrett.
