OUTSTANDING FEATURES/PROGRAMS: The Sixth Grade Academy (SGA) prepares participating North Charleston sixth grade students for successful secondary school careers and life beyond the classroom by accelerating achievement in reading and math. SGA opens in August 2009 with 180 students.

SGA offers exceptional opportunities for its students including:

• smaller and specialized classes led by some of the district’s best teachers,
• additional time during the school day for reading and math instruction,
• individual assistance with time management and organization,
• supports for social and emotional growth,
• and much more.

When students leave SGA at the end of the year, they will be fully prepared for a successful seventh grade year and a lifetime of learning!
