Our Schools

CCSD studentsCharleston County School District (CCSD) serves approximately 42,500 students in 77 schools and several specialized programs.  CCSD's programs and schools are divided into four Learning Communities based on grade level, each headed by an Associate Superintendent.

CCSD offers exciting and dynamic choices for students and parents, including neighborhood schools, specialized programs ranging from pre-kindergarten to alternative and special needs, district-wide magnet schools, "partial magnet" options based on particular themes, and charter schools. Learn more about these choices.

PLEASE NOTE:  Following a year-long School Redesign initiative focused on improving school efficiency and effectiveness, five CCSD schools (McClellanville Middle, Brentwood Middle, Fraser Elementary, Schroder Middle, and Charlestowne Academy) are now closed and will not reopen for the 2009-2010 school year.  Click on these schools to learn how you can obtain more information about the choices available to students living near these facilities.
