School Redesign Process

The CCSD School Redesign initiative began in June 2008, when the County Board asked the district to develop a school consolidation plan to address underutilized and inefficient schools. The plan’s recommendations are not just about helping the district save $5.3 million towards a projected $28 million deficit this year—at their core, they are designed to increase learning opportunities and strengthen academic outcomes for student.  The process included six months of careful planning and extensive community engagement. At its Monday, January 26th meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the final recommendations of the district's School Redesign plan, and the third phase of the plan-transitioning school communities- began.
