List of CCSD's New Partial Magnets Opening in the 2009-2010 School Year
In 2007, the CCSD School Board and Superintendent Dr. Nancy J. McGinley began a bold school choice initiative designed to increase options for parents and reform district schools like never before. Each CCSD school was given the opportunity to apply for a grant and create a Neighborhood Planning Team (NPT) comprised of school, community, and business representatives. In April 2008, monetary grants were awarded to eleven NPTs to begin this process.
In August 2009, the following six schools opened as new partial magnet schools as a result of this process. The partial magnet status allows each school to still serve students from its current attendance zone, but additional spaces are allotted to students who live beyond this zone who are interested in the school’s selected focus.
