CCSD 2009 Graduates Again Earn Record Total of Scholarship Awards!
Charleston County School District (CCSD) seniors graduating in June 2009 were awarded an unprecedented $46,361,388 in scholarship funds—an increase of over $4 million from the previous year. These results continue the district's trend of rising total scholarship awards each year.
"We are tremendously proud of the many students who earned these awards, and we look forward to learning about their future achievements," stated Superintendent Dr. Nancy J. McGinley. "These results also reflect our parents' commitment to their children's education in Charleston County schools and beyond, and I thank them for their trust and partnership. I also want to send out a special thank you to our high school counselors and administrators for their help in assisting students apply for and obtain these funds."

Scholarship opportunities are provided by various community partners, including colleges and universities, private citizens, civic groups, PTSAs, foundations, endowment funds, and alumni associations. Of the total 2,314 seniors who graduated from fourteen schools in June, 82.9% are entering college or technical college, 4.5% are entering the military, and 12.6% are entering the workforce or other activities.
