Arts RoundtableThe Charleston Arts Roundtable was formed to address the divergent needs of the Charleston arts community.

Members include representatives from local arts organizations and cultural affairs offices, independent artists, business leaders, and Charleston County School District staff members. This initiative will expand enrichment opportunities and resources for our communities by better connecting them with the prolific talents of Lowcountry artists, musicians, dancers, and theater experts and the vibrant organizations that support them.  Furthermore, partnerships with our artists and art enthusiasts will improve resources and support for arts education in our schools.

Electrify Your Strings! Event- The Charleston County All-Star Rock Orchestra featuring the Mark Wood Experience: Friday, March 19, 2010

Approximately 300 CCSD students will perform in a historic rock concert with the world-famous and Emmy Award-winning violinist Mark Wood and his band the Mark Wood Experience. Wood, the original violinist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has performed and toured with Kanye West, Billy Joel, Lenny Kravitz and more. This event will be a captivating and energizing experience for the whole family!

Riverfront RaceRiverfront Race Festival: January 15 and 16, 2010

The inaugural Riverfront Race occurred on January 15-16, 2010 and was an artistic outdoor experience featuring a half marathon, 10K, 5K, family walk, and bicycle race. Members of the Charleston County School District, the Youth Endowment for the Arts, and the Charleston Marathon Planning Committee joined forces to launch this dynamic event to support the arts.
