Overview of the Technology Modernization Project
World-class students and families deserve world-class facilities, which is why the district is working to ensure that all CCSD students have access to cutting-edge technology in their classrooms and media centers. Over the next five years, approximately $30 million in capital bond funds will be invested in the Technology Modernization Project.
Charleston County School District’s Technology Modernization Project is intended to provide a 21st Century learning environment for every child, in every school, every day. Please check this site often, as updates will be posted regularly.

- Schools that are scheduled for new construction or renovation within the next five years will receive equipment at the end of the construction phase.
Technology Modernization in Media Centers
- The book collections in media centers will be updated to reflect the South Carolina state media standards and the CCSD Coherent Curriculum.
- Media center equipment and technology will be updated on a regular cycle.
- Integrated electronic databases will be purchased.
Computer Labs and Administrative Computers
- Computers will be replaced on a renewal cycle, with the oldest models being replaced first.
Professional Development
- Teachers will complete a minimum of 15 hours of SMART professional development within one year of receiving their classroom equipment, or they must demonstrate proficiency.
- Professional development will be available in a variety of formats. The professional development hours will count towards Proviso requirements and may be used for recertification hours with principal approval.
