Office of Categorical Programs & No Child Left Behind

According to the federal law No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), parents of students enrolled in a Title I School that has been identified as "in need of improvement" as defined by NCLB, must be provided an opportunity to request free tutoring services or Supplemental Educational Services (SES) from one of the state-approved SES Providers.

Charleston County Schools will pay $1,535 per student to an approved SES Provider to tutor eligible students in an after-, before- or Saturday school program.  Services maybe provided on the school campus, at the provider's site, or at home.

To be eligible for services, students must be enrolled at one of the eligible Title I schools and must qualify for the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch program.  Should there not be enough funds to provide services to all students enrolled, students will be ranked order based on academic needs.  Should this become necessary, services will be provided to the most academically neediest students first.
