Office of Categorical Programs & No Child Left Behind
Federal guidelines from the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) require that Title I schools identified as not making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two or more years offer students the choice of transferring to other district schools. It is important to understand the options available to you and your family.
The following Title I schools have been identified as "in need of improvement." Students at these schools have the option of:
1) Transferring through public school choice with transportation provided (Please see the application form for your assigned school for more information about your specific options) OR
2) Remaining at the school and receiving free tutoring (SES) and participating in school-wide programs if the student meets eligibility requirements.
Applications must be received at the Title I Office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. For more information, please call (843) 937-6300.
