Our recent Parent Information Sessions on the Common Core in each one of our constituent districts went very well. Thanks to all who attended. We appreciate your involvement.

Also, we wanted to share some additional video resources with you, which were developed by the National Parent Teacher Association. They provide more detailed information about the Common Core, for those who are interested in learning the facts.

Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

Welcome to the information page for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for the Charleston County School District. Here you will find basic information defining the Common Core State Standards and how it will be implemented in our district.

The mission of the Common Core State Standards is to provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.
